Dwell #2

This piece was woven from homegrown willow, gathered and harvested the previous year. As the materials dried through autumn and winter, Loughlin turned to drawing, creating charcoal and ink studies of seeds and cones. These forms, with their capacity to protect and regenerate, became the inspiration for the series from which this piece emerges. Guided by their rhythms, curves and repetitions, the resulting sculpture evokes a sense of shelter and refuge, exploring the quiet relationship between protection and renewal.
