Step into a slower, more considered way of making with Sarah’s private one-to-one basketry sessions. Designed for both beginners and more experienced makers, these workshops offer an immersive and personal learning experience.

 

With over 15 years of teaching experience, Sarah brings a calm, intuitive approach—guiding you with care, sensitivity, and attention to detail. Each session is thoughtfully shaped around you, allowing space to learn at your own pace, develop confidence, and enjoy the quiet rhythm of working with natural materials.Whether you are discovering basketry for the first time or returning to refine your practice, one-to-one tuition offers the rare luxury of uninterrupted focus and bespoke guidance.

 

Following your booking, Sarah will be in touch to begin planning your session together—selecting a project that reflects your interests and experience.

 

 

Possible projects include:

 

One day

Zarzo basket or tray, frame tray, or frame basket.

 

Two days

Oval handbag, round basket with leather handles, asymmetric basket, bread basket, or a small storage/kindling basket.

 

For those wishing to explore further,  options could include:

Medium asymmetric basket, log or storage basket (with leather or inset handles), round basket with wrapped handle, or a rope-coil basket

 

Additional, more bespoke options may also be available, particularly where elements, such as bases or hoops can be prepared in advance - either by you or by Sarah.

WHAT'S INCLUDED:

Use of tools and materials (also feel free to bring your own tools to use if you prefer).

Tea/coffee and biscuits/fruit will be available throughout the day.

 

WHAT YOU NEED TO BRING:

Please bring a packed lunch (or there is a cafe nearby).

Please wear suitable messy clothing; it is advised to wear trousers and closed shoes.

A notebook, if you wish to make notes.

 

ACCESSIBILITY:

All courses are for people aged 18 years and over.

 

Willow weaving is physically active in all areas. It can particularly hard on the hands, so is unsuitable for those who suffer from arthritis or other conditions that affect the hands. Courses will involve working at many levels, including bending down to the floor, working on laps or standing, and working seated at tables. If you have any physical difficulties in any of these areas, we advise you to contact us before booking.

 

Cancellation Policy for 1:1 tuition:

If cancelling within 14 days of booking, a refund can be issued , please email: info@hopewood.co

Cancellations after 14 days of booking: a refund can be given only if we are able to fill the space(s) (minus a £20 admin fee).

 

1:1 tuition bookings can be transferred to an alternative date(s), if requested up to 28 days prior to the course date. The date(s) can only be transferred once.
