During this morning workshop, you will be guided by Sarah to create a Zarzo tray - a modern interpretation of a traditional Spanish basket, creating a sculptural yet functional piece for everyday life. The course aims to give a gentle introduction to the wonderful material of willow, whilst allowing you time to enjoy the mediative qualities of the rhythmical weaving patterns involved; a perfect choice for anyone new to willow weaving or for those who are looking to step away from the busy world to experience the calming processes that basketry can offer. Weaving in a small group, there will be plenty of guidance from Sarah, along with time to learn a little more about how willow is prepared ready for weaving before ending the day with a basket made by your own two hands.
 
What you need to bring: Please bring a packed lunch.
 
What’s included: Materials and use of tools included. Tea, coffee and biscuits will be available throughout the day.
 
Experience and Accessibility: This course is aimed at beginners, no experience is required. Participants must be 18 years old and over.
 
Willow weaving is physically active in all area. It can particularly hard on the hands, so is unsuitable for those who suffer from arthritis or other conditions that affect the hands. Courses will involve working at many levels, including bending down to the floor, working on laps or standing, and working seated at tables.
 
Cancellation Policy (summary): If cancelling within 14 days of booking, a refund can be issued. Cancellations after 14 days of booking: a refund can be given only if we are able to fill the space(s) (minus a £20 admin fee). Courses are non-transferable.
